And I really want a Prius.

We had the following exchange at breakfast this morning:

Elizabeth: Mommy, do you know what I really want?
Me: No, honey, what do you really want?
Elizabeth: A compost pile.

Gotta say, I wasn't expecting that one.

[Edited to add: I wasn't sure at first whether this came from school or TV, but have now confirmed that it was TV.]

Speaking of Prius, my nephew Danny announced not long ago that he is a democrat. When asked why he replied, "because Prius is my favorite kind of car and democrats like the Prius."

He also added "...and democrats don't make people wear seatbelts." We're still not sure where that one came from. But at 8 years old, Dan has declared his party affiliation.

No doubt he is counting the days to when he can ride in his Prius sans seatbelt.

I think it's the Libertarians who don't make you wear seatbelts. Jacob was pissed off last week because he was "the only kid in my class who is going for Obama." I told him that he didn't have to go for Obama just because David and I were -- he should study the issues and decide for himself. And also told him that David and I have plenty of friends who are going for McCain, so it's okay -- you can disagree on the issues and still be friends. But I guess it's tough to be a 6 year old blue dot in a red state. Give Danny a hug from me -- I always did like that boy. :-)

BTW, I asked Jacob again whether he was REALLY the only kid in his class who was "going for" Obama -- I mean, surely David and I aren't the only flaming liberals in town, right? -- and he confessed that there were actually 3 other kids. So that's four out of 16 kids, or 25%, which makes Mrs. D's first grade class just a smidge more conservative than the state as a whole.
