Denial: It's not just a river in Egypt

The other day, David gently asked me the following question:

"Caroline is starting to sport a little mullet, don't you think? What should we do about that?"

And I replied: "What mullet? I see no mullet."

I will admit, on rare occasions, but only from certain angles, you can sometimes spot the telltale

signs of a mullet. But that's just when the light catches her hair the wrong way. We are nowhere NEAR the point at which we have to consider taking my baby, my LAST BABY, to the hair butcher to get shorn of the locks that were on her head on the day she was born, are we? No, I didn't think so.

I don't think there's any way that baby needs a haircut. Daddies just don't understand hair issues like mommies. . . . I've always enjoyed your stories about how shocking it is to see your baby grow up, but never really understood it until lately. I was watching Gary hold one of my big babies the other day, and noticed how much like children they are rather than babies, and almost just burst into tears. Oh, I get it now, and I can assume it's only going to get worse. At least I have you for support!

I feel the same way! I cried when I had to cut my youngest daughter's bangs. I had no choice though, she kept sweeping the hair out of her eyes. I'm not touching those little curls in the back though, no way! :)

Oh, I understand! But, with Carter I could only hold out until the first birthday, then we had to get out the scissors or he would've been mistaken for a girl. Caden made it to 18 mos. before the first one. Be strong, mama!
